SIDESTEP emulated outstanding stallions CHARGE FORWARD and HINCHINBROOK as the leading colt in the Golden Slipper

sidestep stallion - telemon studs

He is such an exciting horse! Our Sidesteps are great types - very athletic with great minds. They’re a pleasure to do anything with which in my experience is a key marker of the horses that will make it.”
John Sunderland, General Manager Woodlands

EXCEED AND EXCEL remains the pre-eminent source of 2yo speed in global racing. He is responsible for 147 stakes winners and prizemoney of a staggering $154 million. He retired as the champion Australian sprinter after a stellar year winning the Up and Coming Stakes, Royal Sovereign Stakes (a feat emulated by SIDESTEP) and Roman Consul against his own age group. He then took out the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap and Group 1 Dubai Racing Club Cup against older horses, the latter in course record time. The EXCEED AND EXCEL legacy will live on for years to come through his ever-increasing band of sire sons.

Considering 2016/17 QTIS Horse of the Year 2yo PARADIS IMPERIAL and leading 2yo of 2018 MISHANI HUSTLER, a stakes winner of over $300,000, are both by lesser credentialed sons of EXCEED AND EXCEL, SIDESTEP appears exceptionally well suited to Queensland breeding.
